Where did summer
go? The kids are finally back in school. Cool temperatures
teased us, only to have the heat come back full force. Wouldn't it
be great to prop your feet up near a fan and enjoy a good book.
Here's what I've been up to this summer.
-
Writing Up a Storm. I'm halfway done with the third book in my
Hot Shot series - lots of fire scenes, and a May-December romance that's
been really fun to write (hint: it's not an older man, although
one of my main characters is in his fifties - I do love
multi-generational stories). The working title is The Surprised
Groom, due in stores in 2006.
-
Vacation. My husband's family held a family reunion in Florida. We
enjoyed everything from the slow pace of the Weeki Watchi River to the
emotional grandeur of the Kennedy Space Center to the crowded madness of
Orlando. It was hot, rainy and lots of fun!
-
Writer's Conference.
The Romance Writer's of America National Conference
was held in Dallas - another hot, sticky locale. My husband came
along and golfed every day with a friend. I may have been
exhausted from running from meeting to meeting all day, but the men were
icky-sweaty - nothing romantic about them at all!
-
Reader's Conference. Celebrate Romance - a gathering of readers and writers - was held
in Lake Tahoe. Not only did I meet some really wonderful readers,
but I met writers from young adult, fantasy, historical, e-pubs, and
(gasp!) romantica. A good time was had by all. Can't wait
for next year!

What I'm Reading (or planning to).
Currently at the top of my TBR pile (because the pile has become really
large) - Eragon (fantasy, written by a 16-year old), American Idle (chic
lit), The Survivor's Club (suspense) and I'm just finishing Eileen
Rendahl's Do Me, Do My Roots (funny, touching story of 3 sisters in
search of love and happiness).
Tell me what you're reading!
-
Journal. I'm the first to admit I'm not high tech. Everyone talks
about BLOGS (web-logs or on-line journals). I've got my on-line
journal up and running. Check it out!
My family is just as crazy-normal as yours!
Just two months until The Family Man comes out in November.
