The
New Year is upon us! How did it get here so fast? For me, the last two
weeks of the year involve a lot of traditions and a lot of hectic fun!
Here’s my last minute list of ideas to increase your holiday cheer.
-
Makin’ a List.
Something my in-laws taught me several years
ago was the power of a yearly to-do wish list. This makes great dinner
conversation with my husband and kids, especially on New Year’s Eve. What
do you want to do next year? Buy a new car? Visit Disneyland? Hike your
local mountain trail? Learn a new language?
-
Auld Lang Syne.
When each of my kids were born I bought a
journal. Once a year, I drag them out and write down the year’s
highlights for each child, as well as what was going on in the world that
year. Now that they’re older, they enjoy reading about themselves and
what was happening in the world while they were "kids" - LOL!
-
Do What You Love With the Ones You
Love Day. Our
family is often so busy, we miss out on the things we’d like to do. For
example, my husband never seems to get to a movie before it disappears.
At the holidays, we spend one day “doing the movies” for him. That might
mean watching 2 movies in the morning on video, going to the bargain
matinee and then a date movie at night. What’s the harm, as long as you
don’t eat too much popcorn?
-
Neighborly Spirit.
We’re lucky enough to live in a neighborhood where we all know each
other. Some years we plan New Year’s Eve celebrations together – moving
from house to house every hour. (Although we tried having a different
course at each house, by the third house, we were generally too stuffed to
eat anything else – LOL!) Some years we have a neighborhood pot luck
where we bring all the leftover holiday eats and share our family
travails. This is also the day our men take down the holiday lights
(which they put up the day after Thanksgiving with much macho bravado as
to who could put on the best light show).
The release of my next Harlequin Superromance is fast approaching.
Getting Married Again is the first book in a series about the men and
women who risk life and limb to defeat raging wildfires. Discover the sexy
Silver Bend Hot Shots–Wildland Fire Fighters who work, train and love with a
passion you'll treasure! (Read an
intro)

Happy Holidays!
