Welcome 2010! I'm going to post my writing resolutions for the year, but first there's something I have to get off my chest...

The holidays at my house wouldn't have happened without me. Innocent Come on - I know many of you agree with this statement.  We are the magic that everyone else believes in to produce peace, joy and a full tummy.  Now that we've made it to the new year, pat yourself on the back, treat yourself to something special and give a wink & a nod to the rest of us, those who pull off the impossible year after year.  We rock!

Now for my 2010 writing resolutions:

  1. Write On! Sure, I finished the huge rewrite of my romantic comedy single title and I've got a 2-book submission in with Blaze.  But I need to keep moving forward, keep stretching myself, keep searching for that place where I fit.  First up will be taking the sequel to the romantic comedy for a test drive (write a few chapters to get a feel for the characters).  Second will be to explore something new to see if it fits my voice (I have an idea involving superheroes).  I've got another idea tickling my membranes, but hope something sells before I need to pursue more new stories.  Timing:  January (sequel chapters), March (exploration).
  2. The Hunt is On! I'm looking for where my writing belongs - which publishing house (compare the first page of a romance by Avon and one by Mira - notice difference?), which romance subgenre, which imprint.
  3. Technology Will NOT Win! I have a new smart phone.  Sometimes I think the phone is smarter than me.  Hey, it took me months to get this web site working (yes, it has been pointed out to me that I used calming birds and flowers as a template; yes, it wasn't what you were expecting from an author; but that will change when I start selling books again - in the meantime, take a breath and enjoy the peacefulness, I know I do).  It took me weeks to figure out how to blog (thanks, Jon!).  This is the same tech struggle I spent learning to program the VCR, Tivo and the GPS.  Soon all will be smooth sailing (I will try not to mutter, mumble or cuss technology on this journey).  Timing:  Everyday!

I think my theme for the year will follow Cat Stevens (from the song "If you want to sing out, sing out"):  There's a million things to be.  You know that there are...And you can make it all true...It's easy...

So, join me on my journey back to publication by posting your resolutions or support of mine.  Have a safe, joyous and happy new year!

Mel
